Takeoff
With such a powerful engine, you'll get up to spped quickly.
Give it full throttle and your tail will rise when you reach
65 knots or so. Lift off at about 90 knots. The Dakota Kid will
leap into the air. It wants to fly!
It's a real
thrill to go to spot view to watch the landing gear retract.
It can climb
at an impressive 3400 feet per minute. She handles wonderfully.
Again from
spot view, you can watch all of the control surfaces move.

Landing
Approach speed
on short final is about 120-130 knots here using full flaps.
The P-51 Dakota
Kid is a taildragger so you'll set down on the main gear, let
the speed bleed off and let it drop down onto the tail wheel.
