About This Classic Plane
From 1934 through 1947, more than 10,500 DC-3s and all of its variations took to the skies.

The DC-3's fame is due mainly to its role as a cargo and transport aircraft during World War II. The U.S. armed forces ordered thousands which it designated as the C-47 Skytrain. The RAF which flew almost 2000 of these planes, nicknamed it the Dakota.

The DC-3 is truly a unique part of aviation heritage.
