When flying in New York City you can spot them from miles away. For easier identification the name is displayed at the proper elevation.

OK, but where is Carnegie Hall?
In an area such as NYC, there are many prominent sites. EZ-Landmark's database has more than 1100 popular sites which it can identify so that you can pick them out from a crowded scenery.

Thus if you depart from Anchorage, you can easily locate Knik Glacier or Eklutna Lake. Or takeoff from LaGuardia and follow the coast of Long Island Sound all the way to Cape Cod.
